Starting his career as a junior at The Basin Cricket Club Glenn “Bunks” Bunker worked extremely hard at his
game with a short stint at District level to become a reliable opening batsman and slips fieldsman. Often
his biggest critic Glenn is rarely satisfied with anything less than 110% while he is at the crease. The pride
Glenn puts on his wicket has seen him make many outstanding contributions to the 1st XI with his standout
performance being his 116 runs in a Semi-Final steering the 1st XI to Finals glory.
Matt “Whales” Whalan played his entire career with The Basin and was one of the first picked in the 1st XI
for many years. As a reliable top order batsman Matt was always considered a crafty left hander who when
on song could put a short ball to any part of the ground. His hard work was rewarded in 99/00 when he won
the 1stXI batting average amongst some very good cricketers.
Recruited from Knox Cricket Club Danny “RS” Rundle came across to The Basin with immediate success,
winning the batting average and a playing a major role in the premiership. Danny has since played
almost every game within the decade and is most often first name after the captains on the team sheet.
A proven performer with over 2000 runs to his name, Danny is a top order batsman not afraid to take it
up to the best bowlers in the competition. These efforts have seen Danny make a name for himself in the
competition represent the association on numerous occasions. As a bowler Danny’s accuracy and variation can
often be relied on to provide a key breakthrough and has often provided the needed spark to turn a game in The
Basin’s favour.

8. Matt Heskes

Position: Bowler
Batting Style: Right Hand Bat
Bowling Style: Right Arm Medium / Fast
Sometime after finishing his junior career at the Basin, Matt “Hammers” Heskes returned to the Basin and
quickly established his position in the 1stXI without looking back. A somewhat deceptive bowler Matt has all
the tricks with the ball and always seems to be in the wickets. Having been named in the FTGDCA Team of the
year last season Matt was also rewarded with the club champion and bowling average. As well as being very
athletic in the field Matt is also a very reliable lower order batsman who puts enormous pride in his wicket.
His constant effort and ability to give 100% to every minute he plays has also seen Matt Captain the 1st XI
when required.

9. Leigh James

Position: Bowler
Batting Style: Right Hand Bat
Bowling Style: Right Arm Fast
Leigh “Leroy” James is the meaning of a Basin Boy. After playing his first 1st XI game as a 16 year old, Leigh
quickly grew to become the clubs bowling backbone and feared competitor in the competition. His pace and
swing has caused havoc among the best players in the competition and allowed him to dismantle top orders
frequently. His statistics speak for themselves; club champion, 5 time 1stXI bowling average and almost 200
wickets put him in some rare company within the association and club.

12. Craig James

Position: Bowler
Batting Style: Right Hand Bat
Bowling Style: Right Arm Medium
Having played his entire career at the Basin Craig “Eddie” James was a somewhat late comer to 1st XI cricket
having played most of his early career as an all rounder in the 2nd and 3rd XI. After gaining selection to the
1st XI Craig quickly established himself in the side. As a bowler Craig could always stop the runs, he also had
the ability to move the ball both ways and could be relied upon to snare the opposition’s finest batsman
with precision and nous. Having been cut down by injury Craig now focuses on teaching the younger bowlers
within the club to refine their craft.
